Mawnan bench crafted from oak by TOAST New Maker Will Nock, whose furniture is inspired by his home on the Cornish coastline. He uses traditional hand tools to slowly shape locally sourced wood into functional forms, each a reflection of the rugged landscape he draws from. Characterised by curved edges and a wide seat, joined to tapered spindle legs with wedged mortice and tenons. Featuring a hand-finished textured top reminiscent of the ripples of the sea and sand, with traces of the maker’s tools on the wood. It is treated with a natural oil and wax blend which leaves a tactile surface. Each varies slightly in shape and colour. This item is part of our New Makers programme. In its sixth year, five makers demonstrating excellence in skill, originality and craftsmanship have been chosen by a TOAST panel. We offer business and marketing advice, as well as a platform to sell their pieces until the end of this year, with full profits being returned to them. Delivery is included in the price but, as this item is dispatched from the UK, import duties and local sales tax may be payable on receipt for countries outside of the UK.
